Different And reading those lyrics doesn't quite have the same power as hearing him sing it, I think it's the guitar. Yeah, that's it- the music carries the message too. But, anyway, obviously I am completely and totally disjointed now. Sleep. Sleep is a good thing.

Anthem. So, recently I've discovered John Mayer, and I've instantly fallen in love with his music (although this also might be the product of the haze I find myself in--a product of forcing myself to finish my word count before the night's over and all the food I ate at my mother's house tonight). So, one song seemed particularly characteristic of the life I'm living right now when I remember that I'm doing what God wants me to do (once again, this might all change tomorrow when I'm not so severely over tired). Here it is for what it's worth:

"Welcome to the real world", she said to me
Condescendingly
Take a seat
Take your life
Plot it out in black and white
Well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
And the drama queens
I'd like to think the best of me
Is still hiding
Up my sleeve

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something's better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above

So the good boys and girls take the so called right track
Faded white hats
Grabbing credits
Maybe transfers
They read all the books but they can't find the answers
And all of our parents
They're getting older
I wonder if they've wished for anything better
While in their memories
Tiny tragedies

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something's better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you got to rise above

I am invincible
As long as I'm alive

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above

I just can't wait til my 10 year reunion
I'm gonna bust down the double doors
And when I stand on these tables before you
You will know what all this time was for

Trivial Pursuit. Do you ever feel like, no matter how major a part some people play in your life, you will never be more than a bit player to them? At best, you'll have a small but regularly reoccuring role, walk on, a couple lines of dialogue and you're out of the way until next week's episode. Well, that's the trivial part; as for the pursuit... I keep running and running and it seems like I'm the one everyone expects to lose. They left me behind along time ago, and don't even bother looking to see if I'm still in the race.

Oh, and you should believe everything anybody ever said about people throwing spears at you once you're in leadership. I'm living through it now.

But I should shut up before I let slip something that might need to stay buried. But one last thing, I've learned that the bright spots in my life, the people who make me feel safest and strongest right now, are the people who make me laugh and laugh even when i'm having a wretched day. And I'm thanking them for that, even though I'm pretty sure none of them even realize I have a blog...Oh well. Thank you anyway.

Helping The World. One child of it at least. I just got a phone call from our local Urban League and I have been approved as a mentor. So, the director called me tonight to discuss the girl he would like me to be matched up with, so hopefully, I will be able to meet the family on Thursday. I'm excited. A little nervous, but excited just the same.
